MSc Mixed Mode

Master of Science (Molecular Medicine)

The programme aims to provide a strong fundamental understanding of the field of molecular medicine through comprehensive lectures and practical, hands-on experience in research and entrepreneurial aspects of the biomedical field. The programme has an emphasis on translational research with a focus on biomarker discovery and the development of diagnostics, vaccines or therapeutics for the market.

The programme consists of three semesters. In the first semester, candidates will undertake core courses. In the second semester, students can select a research- or an industry-focused pathway allowing them to customize learning that will be relevant towards their career goals. A research project in the specialized area will begin in the second semester continuing into the third semester that will be solely dedicated to research.

*This programme will begin in September 2017.

Admission Requirements

Applicants should possess the following:

* Bachelor of Science (Hons) in a related field with CGPA ≥ 2.75


* Diploma with at least 5 years working experience will be considered. 

Language Requirement

For International Applicants Only

  • A minimum score of TOEFL 550 (paper-based); or
  • A minimum score of TOEFL 213 (computer-based); or
  • A minimum score of TOEFL 80 (internet-based); or
  • A minimum score of IELTS Band 6; or
  • Official language of applicant's country is English; or
  • Applicant graduated from an institution of higher learning where English is the language of instruction
  • Passed Intensive English Programme offered by School of Languages, Literacies and Translation, USM, Level IV with a minimum grade of A-


* Full-time: 3 semesters (up to a maximum of 6 semesters)

* Part-time: 6 semesters (up to a maximum of 12 semesters)


* Malaysian applicants : RM31,000.00

* International applicants : USD11,625.00
